CAS25

Good morning!

I've been trying to participate in some of the challenges this week. I've got two cards for you today using the Clean and Simple challenge (a sketch). The first card also combines the colour challenge for this week at Splitcoast.

For the above card, I used some textured Pixie Pink for the card base. I love the little extra some textured card stock gives a clean and simple card. The images are from Unity's July KOTM and Bevy of Butterflies. I coloured the images on white card stock using and Aqua painter with Pixie Pink, Apricot Appeal and Certainly Celery inks.

This second card uses the new level 1 hostess set from SU! called Out of the Box. It's an SU only card.

I pulled the colours Bashful Blue, Kraft and Vanilla from the Manchester DSP. The box is stamped in Sahara Sand which is about the closest Kraft coloured ink I have. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes. The elephant and Vanilla/DP layer are on dimensionals. I thought this set would be so fun to use with dimensionals and it's well documented how much I love to use them ;) I'm thinking this second card might be a card camp card for next week.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today! Hope the rest of your day is wonderful and less rainy than it is here...

A super quick post today with a card for the Clean and Simple Challenge at SCS this week. You can check it out here.

It measures 5.5 x 5.5 inches. I first stamped the sentiments from SU!'s Sporting and Papertrey's Birthday Basics in black ink and then stamped the hats and balls (from Just Baseball) around them in Real Red. A second black star was cut out and adhered with a dimensional. It's all adhered with dimensionals to Basic Black cardstock and then to a Kraft base.

This will go to my youngest son for his birthday next week. I can't believe he's going to be 6!!!

Thanks for stopping by today :)

CAS Challenge Finale

So, this past Sunday was my last Clean and Simple challenge DT assignment. :( I'm going to miss it! Such fun. If you haven't had a chance to play along with that challenge, check them out here.

The challenge this past week was to re-do a card in CAS style. First is the original card and below that is the redo.

I kept the colour palette similar for the new card using a layout from a previous CAS challenge. The base is Confetti Cream and the DP circles are punched from Cosmo Cricket's Wanted DP. The stamps are For Father from Verve stamps and the sentiment is stamped in Chocolate Chip and Really Rust.

Also, I realized that I didn't post my CAS challenge card from the week before.

The challenge for this card was to use only black, white and one Bold Bright colour. It was a bit of a challenge as I don't tend to use the brights too often. I chose Pixie Pink to use with the Cupcake Mix and Match set from There She Goes. The card base is made with the SU! scallop die for the Big Shot and I used Nestabilities to make the other circles. A bit of ribbon from Taylored Expressions finishes it off. A different shape for me, but I'm liking it! I made a little scrapbook out of this same die cut shape that I'll have to get some photos of for you.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by today! The school year is winding down so that means that my workload is piling up! Hopefully I'll still have time to stamp and share with you over the next month :) I promise I'll make it up to you over the summer!

Have a great day!

She's A Lady

Sorry ladies, but She's A Lady must be awesome since Customs seems to be holding her up from me! No She's A Lady card here, but I do have the card I made for the CAS12 over at SCS. The challenge is to use a scrap of ribbon on your card. Consider this my sneak peek post :)

It's a simple baby card (my favourite kind of cards to make) that uses a little bit o' ribbon. I always have pieces left over when I trim ends so this challenge is a great way to get ideas to use them up. I used the set Tweeterpated for this card. It's Certainly Celery and White and uses ribbon from May Arts and a SU! library clip to hold it in place.

But, back to the There She Goes details. Want a chance to win the new TSG set? Comment on all of the Trendsetter's Blogs on their She's A Lady sneak peek post, go back to Jessica's and add your name to the Mister Linky. You do not have to have a blog to play along, you can also use the URL of your favorite online craft gallery!

Next stop on the hop is Becky.

If you miss anyone, here are all the Trendsetter blogs, including this month's guest designer Jen Tapler.

CAS11

Hi! Thanks for stopping by. Hope you had a wonderful spring weekend!

The Clean and Simple Challenge over at SCS on Monday is to create a card inspired by this JC Penny kids bedding. I chose this particular bedding set to use as my starting point for the card you see below.

For the polka dot background paper, I used the circle stamp from Tweeterpated from There She Goes. The colours are Kiwi Kiss, Lovely Lilac, So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Pale Plun and Cool Carribbean (all SU! colours). The cupcake and sentiment are from Cupcake Mix and Match. The icing on the cupcake is cut out and covered with Dazzling Diamonds glitter and then adhered with dimensionals. The cupcake paper is paper pieced. It's finished off with a knotted So Saffron grosgrain ribbon.

Hope you have a chance to participate in the CAS challenge today! Don't forget about the give away you can read about in this post. There's still lots of time to enter :)

Hope the rest of your day is great!

A Card I Forgot to Share!

....plus one more.

Happy Saturday! It's not as nice here as I was hoping weather-wise, but I think we still might be able to spend some time in the yard cleaning up a bit. We're staying close to home this weekend. Colin has had a cough and runny nose the past two weeks (I've taken him to the walk-in twice and his lungs are clear) but Thursday night looked like he had a sunburn across the bridge of his nose and cheeks which later developed into a rash and redness all over his face. It's now spreading to his body. Apparently it's Fifth's Disease. It's no longer contagious now that the rash is out, but he's a bit self conscious about it so we won't likely go out too much. He has no discomfort or anything, it just looks sore. Kids. You just never know the minute something is going to hit!

Unfortunately, my stamping mojo is still off somewhere (I haven't felt like spending much time on the computer lately either? Weird) but I did find a few cards I made and forgot to share. So here they are!

First up is a Mother's Day card I made using two sets from There She Goes.

The colours are Pink Pirouette and Lovely Lilac. The background and butterfly stamps are from Nature of Friendship and the sentiment in from Holidays Galore. The main panel is on dimensionals and the butterfly has some small pearl jewels on it as an accent.

This second card was made for the SCS CAS challenge last week which was to make a monochromatic card.

I used a 3/4" punch and randomly glued the punched out circles to create a monochromatic background. I thought about using the same colour ink but wanted to try something a little different. The sentiment is from a There She Goes set called Cupcake Mix and Match. I seem to be on an oval punch kick lately! Colour is Pacific Point. It's a pretty colour that I don't tend to use very much.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope the rest of your day is great!

So, the Clean and Simple Challenge for this week at SCS is to use punches. Love my punches. It's great to be able to get a clean, perfect shape with a little squeeze!

I used a few on this card. First off, the corner rounder was used both on the image panel and the sentiment piece. The slot punch was used to make a hole to thread the ribbon through on the sentiment panel. Unfortunately, you can't see it because of the bow. But it's there. The last thing I used a punch for was to create small centers for the flowers. I used a 3/4" punch and some Chocolate Chip cardstock scraps.

If you get a chance, upload your Clean and Simple card using punches to SCS and use the keyword CAS07 so was can all check it out!

Thanks for stopping by! It's off to bed for me :) Good night!

Stamps: Flowers of Happiness, Nature of Friendship (There She Goes) Polka Dot BG (SU!)
Ink: Summer Sun, Chocolate Chip
Paper: Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, So Saffron

CAS06

Well, hello!

The March Break is here and I could not be more excited! No plans to speak of, just hanging out and relaxing. Ahhhhh.....

I kicked off the weekend attending the SU! Regional conference in London, ON. What fun! We made some cool stuff and I'll try to post pics of it later this week.

In honour of the Regional, I've got an SU! only card for you today.

The Clean and Simple challenge this week was to create a card using inspiration from the site www.robeez.com I *adore* the soft soled shoes there! My boys both had a Canadian Flag pair when they were babies. Loved them so...

I chose to use this pair of shoes for inspiration. The shoes spoke to me and said "die cuts" so I obliged and used the Birds and Blooms Sizzlits to make the flowers. Did you notice that I reversed the colours of the petals and face of the flowers? Neither did I until just now. Oh well.... The sentiment was stamped in Basic Black ink using a sentiment from the Really Retro set. A piece of Certainly Celery twill finishes it off. This is the Sale-s-bration twill. A good tip I read is to run the twill between your thumb and a bone folder to soften it up before you use it. Great tip. I find it a bit stiff to work with but that trick helped me get a neat knot.

I am hoping that since it is March Break I will get a change to spend more time in the craft/crap room to create and get ahead on some of my DT stuff. We were planning to redo the room, but as I looked about at all the stuff I would have to pack up, I got tired. So it will have to wait until summer :)

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today! Hope the rest of your day is great.

Stamps: Really Retro
Paper:Pink Passion, Certainly Celery, Barely Banana, Whsiper White
Ink: Basic Black
Accessories: Birds and Blooms Sizzlits, Certainly Celery twill ribbon

Time for another Clean and Simple Challenge over at SCS.

Today's challenge was to use shades of blue and green in your creation. I chose to use one shade of each colour. Kiwi Kiss for the green and Not Quite Navy for the blue. I don't tend to reach for NQN a whole lot, but rather use the Night of Navy. Today I dared to be different :)

This card is a one layer card. I do love one layer cards but have to admit that I get a bit anxious I'll mess it up when I'm getting near the end! I didn't on this one but have many, many times before. I used the new There She Goes set Nature of Friendship for this card. Not much more to explain really! I used the Papertrey white cardstock for the base as I just don't find Whisper White makes a good base. It's awesome to stamp on but doesn't stand up well enough for my liking. Too bad Canadians are charged a small fortune to ship to Canada or I'd be getting some more. Well, now I'm rambling....

So, today I tidied the craft/crap room up. I, like many of you out there, have enough stuff to work with for 100 people! So sad how much stuff I have. I am pledging to try to scrap more often as I have a case that will barely close full of stickers and rub ons. Plus, I've got paper coming out of you know where! I made a December daily countdown album this year and my boys really enjoy looking at it. I also pulled another scrapbook out and they had a ball with that which is making me feel suuuuuuper guilty. I've got all this gear but don't use it! Well, no more. I printed off over 100 photos and picked them up on Friday. I seriously think that having the pictures ready to go is half the battle. I don't tend to print them off but just look through the computer file. Hopefully that, combined with a tidy space will motivate me! We shall see...

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today! Hope the rest of your day is great :)

CAS03

Hi everyone!

Thanks for stopping by today! This week's Clean and Simple challenge is a sketch challenge. Go here and check out the sketch.

Here's the card I created as a sample.

I used some Basic Grey Sultry paper to punch out some butterflies with the Martha Stewart butterfly punches. They are adhered with dimensionals to help them look like they are flying off the paper. I punched along the bottom with SU!'s new border punch. It rocks! I wanted to use that punch so that the tiny holes would tie into the dots on the butterfiles. A bit of ribbon is tied and a sentiment from There She Goes' Butterfly Happiness is stamped in Chocolate Chip ink. It's all mounted on a Regal Rose card base.

Although I am a clean and simple stamper for the most part, my stamping area is definitely not clean (or simple). It's a mess. A big mess. If it weren't, I'd have been able to get to my Scor Pal to eliminate those yuck fold creases along the top! Honestly, it doesn't look so bad IRL but it's really noticeable in the photo. Sorry about that! Hubby and I are planning to redo the computer/craft/crap room in a few weeks. I don't think I want to post before pics, but I will after! Will it make me a neater crafter? Likely not, but we shall see ;)

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today!

The Clean and Simple Challenge at Splitcoast Stampers this week is to use one button on your card.

Here's a sample to hopefully get you inspired!

This card uses the set Flowers of Happiness from There She Goes. I stamped the large flower image using Very Vanilla craft ink onto Riding Hood Red cardstock and cut that out with the Top Note die. It is layered onto the Vanilla card stock base using dimensionals. The sentiment is stamped in Riding Hood Red ink on Vanilla paper and cut into a strip. It is also adhered with dimensionals. I used a button from the Button Bouquet from SU! and threaded and knotted a small length of Vanilla taffeta ribbon through. It is adhered with a glue dot.

I hope you get a chance to participate in the challenge! Don't forget to upload your creation at SCS using the key word CAS02 so that we can check out all the button cards in one place :)

Thanks for stopping by today!

FS106

Good morning!

Haven't had much of a chance to do the Featured Stamper Challenge lately it seems, so I made some time this morning.

Today's FS is one of My There She Goes peeps for the month of February, Julie Lacey. I selected this card of Julie's to CASE.

Here's mine.

Julie loves the gorgeous layers but I didn't add them all for my card. I kept is simple by using a white base and adding a piece of Certainly Celery card stock and SU! retired designer paper for the background. I stamped the whale from You're So Punny on a die cut Top Note in Memories black ink and layer another one cut from Bashful Blue cardstock on top. I selected See Ya Soon as the sentiment and stamped it in the whale's speech bubble/water spout thingy.

I had a heck of a time getting the SU! Certainly Celery ribbon through looking acceptable when tied. I tried the slot punch in two places and then found I had to add a small piece of white to try to cover them up when I settled on creating a slot with a craft knife. The slot punch only has so far of a reach and it wasn't far enough for my liking so the ribbon knot area was a bit of a mess. It's okay now :)

And, I've got some exciting news to share :) Remember the CAS challenge I did last week? Well, it's going to be a regular challenge on Monday's at SCS. Miss Boo (Jen) will be hosting and she opened it up to CAS lovers to apply to help her out with samples ahead of time for the challenge. Guess what? I'm going to be on the Design Team for the challenge for the next few months! I'm really looking forward to these challenges as Clean and Simple is right up my alley. You can see more about the announcement here. I hope you all can participate in the challenge each week!

Well, it's off to clean my house. We're celebrating some birthdays today and having family over. I'm hoping to get some Guitar Hero 4 time in with my brother's family and the kids! I got it for Valentine's Day yesterday. Hubby and I rocked out into the wee hours of the morning. I've been wanting it for AGES and it's just as fun as I hoped it would be! It's nice that we can all play it together. We've got some racing games and hockey but I have zero interest in those things so this is something we can do as a family, just like in the commercial! LOL Love that commercial...

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope the rest of your day is great!

A super, super quick card and post for today. I'm swamped!!!

There is a new challenge over at SCS for Clean and Simple cards. I took my inspiration from this flannel fabric.

I used the SU! set Nursery Necessities for the sentiment which was stamped in Pretty in Pink ink. The DP is from Michael's and I think it is Making Memories. The star is punched out of Pretty in Pink cardstock and attached with a SU! taffeta ribbon.

Thanks so much for taking the time to look!

Hope the rest of your day is great :)
