Happy Together (My Cricut and Me!)

Hi everyone!

We're just back from a very relaxing week of camping in Prince Edward County. Such fun! We rented a trailer near Sandbanks and hit the beaches. The kids had a blast and hubby and I got to take it easy for a week. No baseball practices, deadlines, phones, e-mails.... But, back to reality now :)

I've mentioned before how I am starting a new job in Sept? Well, the staff at my old school gave me a gift card for Michael's. I of course could have blown it bit by bit each time I visited, but decided to put it towards a Cricut instead. I wanted to have something to "show" for it, KWIM? Anyways, I bought myself a little Cricut original and also bought the Sure Cuts A Lot program (awesome!). I bought mine here but loads of places have it.

Using a file I found here, I was able to cut myself out these sweet little birds and a cage for them to go in. Loving this little machine!

Colours are Whisper White, Basic Black, Crushed Curry and Rich Razzleberry. The sentiment is from Verve Stamps and goes really well with the image, I think. Some Crushed Curry ribbon and little black gems from Kaiser Craft finish it off.

I'm working on the photography, sorry about the quality. Since I moved the craft/crap room around, my regular photo spot is no more and I'm still trying to figure out what to do about it....

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today! Hope the rest of your day is great :)

CAS Challenge Finale

So, this past Sunday was my last Clean and Simple challenge DT assignment. :( I'm going to miss it! Such fun. If you haven't had a chance to play along with that challenge, check them out here.

The challenge this past week was to re-do a card in CAS style. First is the original card and below that is the redo.

I kept the colour palette similar for the new card using a layout from a previous CAS challenge. The base is Confetti Cream and the DP circles are punched from Cosmo Cricket's Wanted DP. The stamps are For Father from Verve stamps and the sentiment is stamped in Chocolate Chip and Really Rust.

Also, I realized that I didn't post my CAS challenge card from the week before.

The challenge for this card was to use only black, white and one Bold Bright colour. It was a bit of a challenge as I don't tend to use the brights too often. I chose Pixie Pink to use with the Cupcake Mix and Match set from There She Goes. The card base is made with the SU! scallop die for the Big Shot and I used Nestabilities to make the other circles. A bit of ribbon from Taylored Expressions finishes it off. A different shape for me, but I'm liking it! I made a little scrapbook out of this same die cut shape that I'll have to get some photos of for you.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by today! The school year is winding down so that means that my workload is piling up! Hopefully I'll still have time to stamp and share with you over the next month :) I promise I'll make it up to you over the summer!

Have a great day!

AVS09

Hi everyone!

Day two of my card camp today! After that is over, I'll be able to get back to stamping "for fun" :)

I had a little bit of time today to work on a challenge and went with this Verve sketch challenge found here. I don't think I'll have time now to finish all the sketches, but winning is tempting! lol For now I'll have to settle with my first card.

I am loving the new "Silhouette" line that SU! is coming out with in their new catalogue (to be released this Monday-can't wait to place my order!) and tried to recreate it here. I took my colour inspiration from the Urban Garden designer paper. I am in love with this combo! I don't do lots of layers well, so I omitted a few from the sketch. The background is stamped using SU!'s Fabulous Flowers in Kiwi Kiss on Kiwi Kiss paper. A large flower stamped in Kiwi Kiss is the main image with a sentiment from Refuge and Strength is accented in Basic Gray. I added a mat of Baja Breeze around that main image. A double line of piercing runs down one panel to fill in that space. The mat pack really helps to keep it straight! The large pearl brad is from K and Co. and the smaller pearl accents are Hero Arts.

This card measures 5.5" square.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope the rest of your day is great :)

mojo45

Another quick post! So much for the park as it's now raining:( I did let the boys have a bath instead and they seem to be getting along better-for now! lol

Peaceful Wishes was waiting for me in my mailbox this morning from a SCS trade I made and I couldn't resist the urge to open it up and try it out!

I decided to use the mojo45 sketch by Julee from Verve. Check it out here. I don't know if it's going to be one of the "mojo-est", but the sketch was sure fun to work with! I did change it to a 6" square card since I couldn't fit the sentiment in otherwise.

I am loving those Hero Arts Pearls! The sentiment is embossed in white EP on Always Artichoke paper. Ruby Red and pearlized cream are the other two colours. Ribbon from SU!

Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a peek! Leave a comment too! I'd love to get to know you better :)

Have a wonderful day!

FS74

A quick post today!

Today I completed two cards for the Featured Stamper challenge. The first is based on this card by {Teneale} and the second on this one. I've had both of these cards in my favourites for a while so today was a great day to try casing them!

The first one is pretty much the same as hers except I tied the ribbon differently and used Oh, So Lovely, the SU! hostess set instead. I would have preferred to use Easy Elegance since I love it so, but knew that I had to change a few things! This also uses French Script. Colours are Pretty in Pink and Close to Cocoa. Very Vanilla is the neutral.

The second card has more changed up. The colours are Basic Grey, Regal Rose and Whisper White. I used the
Starlight, Starbright set from Verve Visual and instead of using the flower from the Friendship Blooms SU! set (which is where the flourish is from), I punched a star from Regal Rose paper and covered it with glitter. It's popped up as is the entire Rose panel. A ribbon from a share finishes it off. That ribbon is actually where my jumping off point for this colour combo was.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope the rest of your day is great!

Verve Challenge and WT173 Combined

So I'm really trying to get something stamped everyday this summer. So far, it's going well!

This card was created combining two challenges currently running over at SCS-the Ways To Use It Challenge which was to use scoring in your creating, and the Verve Visual challenge to use stars in your creation. I'd love to win those Verve bucks! It uses Natasha's Clean and Simple Fall to Layout #3 for inspiration, although I did go off on my own a bit.

So, this card started off great in my head, but didn't look so hot when being developed. Initially, I had the stars on the card base directly. Didn't work. Then I added a panel to put them on. Too big. So I had the idea to have the stars going off the edge of the panel. That worked, but then I realized I hadn't cut it small enough to have the stars going off at the top. Unfortunately it was all cut and glued so I just left it. I tried tying in the black with the jewel bit. It's okay I guess. Panel and stars are both on dimensionals. The red panel is scored with the Scor Pal.

So, stamps are Verve Visual Starlight, Starbright and Polka Stars. Paper is Real Red, Basic Black and Whisper White SU!, jewel thing is Studio K and Co and ribbon is from Michael's (Basic Basic?)

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope the rest of your day is great!

FS69 Featured Stamper Challenge

The Featured Stamper challenge at SCS is my favourite challenge to do. This week the featured stamper was mmbc. She has so many beautiful cards to choose from!

For the first card, I chose this card to CASE. I changed it by making it a different size and I chose to have the apple peeking through a punched layer of black cardstock which is raised on dimensionals. All materials SU!

For the second card, I used Verve Visual's anniversary birds to CASE this card. I changed the colours and ribbon as well as the sentiment. I kept the rest really similar. The colours for this one are Old Olive, Regal Rose and So Saffron.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
