It's a rainy day here today. A perfect day for making party favours though! My good friend is turning 4o this month and his wife is throwing him a big party to celebrate. I offered to make the party favours and here is what I came up with. Inside I will be putting some chocolate treats.
So, this friend wanted to earn his black belt in karate before he turned 40. He put his mind to it, worked hard and this past summer earned it. Quite an accomplishment! In celebration of that, I thought I would make the favour with an Asian theme. These actually are quite simple. I was originally planning to make the takeout boxes myself but then came across these ones for sale when looking for a pattern online. And the warehouse is close enough to me to pick up to save on shipping! Even though I now have more boxes left over than I know what to do with, they were much cheaper than buying at Michael's so I was happy. Plus the time saved? SOLD! I'm sure you'll see more projects made with the leftover ones in the near future.
I found black twill ribbon on sale this week at Michael's and tied that around the box to represent the black belt. I printed the number 40 out on cheap Walmart cardstock using the Pepita MT font in Microsoft Word, punched it out with a 1 1/4" punch and layered it onto a black 1 1/2" punched circle. I finished it off by threading a silver cord (mine was stuff I purchased from Michael's last year when they were clearing out the Christmas stuff super cheap) through a puched hole in the tag and tying it to the take out box handle.
Super simple but pretty cute, I think! I would have liked to do some stamping on the tag and maybe something a little more elaborate, but the reality is that I don't really have the time. Plus, they will eventually end up in the garbage! So I'm good with what I've come up with.
I'd love to hear what you think!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope the rest of your day is great :)
