Dollar Find Friday

Hi friends!

For Dollar Find Friday this week I created a little something you can give to a special teacher. Long ago I saw this idea by camsmom on SCS. I filed it away in my brain somewhere and it surfaced when cruising the aisles of the dollar store. A ha! Perfect.

I typed the poem out in Word and adjusted the text so that it would fit in the blue Marvy circle punch. Once it was punched, I added the heart from the Happy Day stamp set and adhered the saying to a scallop circle (using the pink Marvy punch). I added an eyelet and attached it to the Sharpie with ribbon. The font I used is Primer Print in case you are interested. It's an awesome "school" font.
Here's a view of the back. I added the For You stamp from Special Delivery and figured you could add the recipient's name to the back. You could always change this up for school secretaries or teaching assistants.

Super quick and easy! This is a great little gift for a teacher since Sharpies (especially new ones) rock! And it's fat-free :)

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Two Cards, One Layout

I've got two cards for you today both using a layout from Oz-somestamps. The first was inspired by a card made by Jenn D at SCS and was how I came upon the layout.

I used the new There She goes set called Side by Side. Colours are Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel, Ruby Red, Old Olive and Really Rust. I coloured on watercolour paper with an Aqua Painter and ink from the lid of the pad. The button is made using the SU! button Sizzlet and the sentiment is embossed in white EP. The sentiment is raised on dimensionals.

This second card is made exactly the same way but with different colours and this time using the set Fairy Good Day.

The colours used here are So Saffron, Rich Razzleberry, Pretty in Pink, Melon Mambo and Blush Blossom. I added some Dazzling Diamonds to the wand with a glue pen.

Thanks for stopping by today! Last weekend of the summer and it's back to work on Tuesday. We're going to try to make the most of it :)

Mini Set Blog Hop

Hi all!

My There She Goes mini sets arrived just in time for me to participate in the blog hop today :) Yippie! Haven't been stamping much this week due to these facts: 1. I have been in trying to set up my new classroom and that's taking a ton of time. 2. As I mentioned before, we were renovating our bedroom and the mess spilled out. We have not yet cleaned the mess that spilled out in the craft room. It's a real mojo killer. And 3. I just about cut the tip of my thumb off in our sliding door on Sunday and it hurts!!! I think I probably could have used a stitch but it's too late now. It's actually MUCH better than it was earlier in the week but I still have had to be careful.

Anyways, here is a preview of the two mini sets I was lucky enough to receive in the mail.

Can I just say that for mini-sets, Jessica has sure packed a pile of stamps in that space!

My first card uses the first set called Polka Dot Blooms. I used the Fall to Layout 56 from Clean and Simple Stamping. Colours are Rich Razzleberry, Kiwi Kiss and Whisper White. The sentiment is from the Dream Big set as are the stamps for this next card.

This wedding card uses Going Grey, Basic Black and Papertrey white. The grey layer is on dimensionals. I added jewels to make it a little flashy but am thinking that smaller jewels might have been more appropriate? Unfortunately, they ripped a bit when I tried to take them off so they are staying!

Head on over to Becky's blog and keep on hopping! Don't forget to leave a comment here and at each stop on the blog hop . Then, go back to the TSG blog to enter your name in the Mr. Linky for a chance to win some TSG goodness!

Here's the rest of the lineup so you won't miss anybody :)

Let's Go Nuts!

Another quick little card using Life's A Beach. I used some of the new SU! in-colours (Bermuda Bay and Crushed Curry) for this 4.25" square card.

I coloured the drink image in using a blender pen and added Close to Cocoa for the coconut. The main image is adhered using dimensionals and finished off with a polka dot ribbon in Crushed Curry.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by today! I always appreciate it :)

A Winner? Me?

Good morning!

I woke up this morning to find that the card I posted yesterday for the Unity challenge won! Wooo hoooo! Ladies, you've just got to get your stuff out there and enter. Someone has to win and it might just be you!!! Due to the fact that I was crazy busy the beginning of this week, I forgot to mention that there have been changes to the There She Goes challenges. There is one going on right now that you can read about here. Only a few people have entered so get going and make something! You might be the winner!

Here's a card I made using the beautiful butterfly set from TSG called Spread your Wings. It is coloured with Twinkling H2Os. I stamped the butterfly image repeatedly in Versamark and embossed it with black. Again, this is the secret for me to have decent colouring if it's not on watercolour paper. I had a number of random flecks of black EP so to cover them I used the colour spritzer tool with a black marker. Now the flecks look like they are supposed to be there! The sentiment was stamped and then punched with the wide oval punch. I attached two black wide ovals together and tried to make a mat for the oval. Looks okay unless you really inspect it up close. The rest is pretty straight forward stamping. Let me know if you ahve any questions!

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today!

I'm So Happy For You

For this card, I used the There She Goes set Bloom.

I made some patterned paper by alternating two of the sentiments in the set tone on tone in Pale Plum. The flower image is stamped in Pale Plum and the sentiment in Perfect Plum on Very Vanilla cardstock. A big ol' bow using Certainly Celery grosgrain ribbon finishes it off.

Happy Wednesday! Thanks for taking the time to stop by today. Have a wonderful day!

First of August

Second half of the summer :( Ah well.

Not much going on here. The weather is finally beginning to warm up (but shhhhhhhh.....don't tell anyone but I think we have been having PERFECT summer weather! I hate the heat....) so we've been getting outside and having some family bike rides. I have the sore butt to prove it! I think I need to get me one of those jelly seats or something 'cause it hurts!!!

I've got a card to share with you today from the beatutiful new There She Goes (hey-there's a challenge going on there and you can win a gift certificate-I'm just sayin') set called Spread Your Wings. As soon as I saw the images, I knew I wanted to colour them using Twinkling H2Os. I don't use them too much, but really do love the effect when I do. It's too bad, but you really can't see all the sparkle on this card but I also used Shimmery White paper to beef up the sparkle.

I think the key for me to colouring is to start with an embossed image. It really helps me to keep things within the lines. So I started off by stamping both the image and sentiment in Versamark ink and embossing with black embossing powder. *A little note-I used a large block and placed the image and sentiment on it together and stamped it once instead of doing them separately. I little thing, but it saves time, that's for sure* Once it was heat embossed, I coloured the image using the H2Os and an Aquapainter. I selected China Black, Dreamsicle and Egyptian Gold for this image.

To finish it off, I debated long and hard about what colour ribbon to use and tried out a pile. Thanks Sheilagh for suggesting this yellow-y-orange colour! Perfect. I found that black or orange made the whole thing look too Halloweenish.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today! Hope the rest of your day is great :)

ShortCuts Friday

How much fun have I had using these ShortCuts? Today I have a card to show you using the clear card blanks. Again, thick and fingerprint free. Beautiful. Too bad my front door isn't made out of the same material so it would be fingerprint free....

I stamped the butterfly image from Butterfly Happiness using white Stazon randomly on the card base. The sentiment was stamped in Rich Razzleberry onto Whisper White, punched along the edge to give interest and adhered to Rich Razzleberry cardstock. I layered some Prima flowers (I never use these for some reason! Perhaps now that I can find them in here I will do so more often...) added a pearl piece (Hero Arts maybe? Sorry, dunno for sure) and adhered the whole she-bang with glue dots. A piece of Crushed Curry is attached on the inside to again make a frame and provide a writing area for the sender. That's it!

Thanks again for stopping by this week to check out the stuff I've made using ShortCuts products and stamps from There She Goes. Check out "the blurb" on Monday's post for details about how to get yourself a discount :)
And, you have one more day to get in on the sale Jessica is having due to this month's releases being sold out, so check it out here.

ShortCuts Thursday

Another gift card for today!

This time I used a kraft coloured gift card blank from ShortCuts for a base. Inside there's a Tim Horton's gift card so it made sense to use the set Let's Get Together. I guess when I think coffee I think this colour scheme because it's a lot like another card I did using this set.

The cup is stamped and paper pieced using Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla then layered onto Riding Hood Red. The band for the cup was created by running a strip of kraft cardstock through the crimper. Sentiment and jumbo eyelet added, and ribbon tied to complete it. Adorable!

Here's a look at it from the inside.

ShortCuts Wednesday

I've got a card for you today using TSG's set Happy Day and frosted card blanks from ShortCuts. Holy super thick! These bad boys are sturdy.

I layered Pacific Point and Summer Sun card stock with Good Morning Sunshine DP from SU! onto the frosted card blank after it was folded up. The ribbon and sentiment stamped in black were added.

Inside, I attached a large piece of Summer Sun, big enough that it could be seen from the front and it also provides a spot to write in. A little bird is stamped tone on tone in the corner.

Thanks for stopping by today! If you are interested in any of these Short Cuts products, make sure to check out "the blurb" found in Monday's post.

Have a great day!

ShortCuts Tuesday

Happy Tuesday!

Today's ShortCuts project is a little treat holder made using the Sizzix pillow box die and a clear card blank. Great stuff this is as it folds up nicely and you can't see any fingerprints!

I stamped the box before I folded it up using a branch from Act of Kindness and black Stazon. I added in the dangling spider from Spooky Silhouettes (note that Spooky Silhouettes is not currently in the store but Jessica will be bringing it back this fall). Once it was filled with orange Reece's Pieces, a sheer black ribbon was tied. The sentiment "For you" is from the set Special Delivery and it's stamped in black over a Tangerine Tango pumpkin from the Spooky Silhouettes set. Once I punched it out with the curly label punch, I attached it using a small SU! library clip.

Here's a picture without the ribbon so you can see the detail on the box a little better.

Really fast to make up. I think the longest part was either waiting for the Stazon to dry or sorting the orange candies from the rest ;)

Thanks for stopping by today!

I decided to try out a gift card holder first. Nifty little things they are and they sure hold that gift card in tight! Using the set Tweeterpated, I created a holder suitable for a new baby's arrival. Colours are Soft Sky, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White. The ribbon band slides off so the gift card can be seen. Easy peasy!

Room's Shaping Up!

Oh yes, I'm here!

Trying to emerge from piles of particle board and allen keys. The trip to IKEA was successful and I am trying to get my office space all up and running. I am loving it! I do not however, need to buy one other crafty thing as I could probably stamp for the rest of my life and only have to buy cardstock. And even that would be a few years down the road...

A quick card for you today using the Bloom set from There She Goes. This is such a pretty set and I love the sentiments. I think I mentioned that in my last post, but it's true! I used Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie for this card and accented with Chocolate Chip. I was inspired by the beautiful lilies in my backyard that are the same colour of orange. The scallop border punch and some Taylored Expressions ribbon were also used.

That's it for today! Hopefully I will have some room photos for you soon :)

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today! Hope the rest of your day is great!

A card to share

Hi!

Sorry it's been a while since I posted but the craft room reno has begun! I don't have much in the way of access to the computer or to my crafty stuff (oh no!). But, I do have a There She Goes card to share very quickly today using the new Bloom set.

I used one of the flower images to create a patterned paper. I was going for a toile (ish) feel.
Anyways, the colours are Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla. The scallop border punch was used to create the scallop along the top.

So, I am so excited about my new stamping/office space!!! Picked a colour for the walls this afternoon. Am I the only one who finds selecting paint colours stressful? I worry that I'm not going to like it when it's up on the walls... but I picked it and it's mixed and everything so no turning back!

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today! Hope the rest of your day is great :)

Happy Canada Day!

Hope all my Canadian friends are having a Happy Canada Day! Not much going on here. It's overcast but we might try to brave the crowds and pick some strawberries later. Yesterday we bought some steaks for the BBQ so we'll have a nice dinner together complete with cheesecake for dessert.

I've been on holidays since Saturday and it always takes me a good few days to get into the swing of things. We tend to put everything off "until school is out" so when it finally is out, we have a million things to do! Plus, we are having raccoon woes in our backyard (they were trying to get in our bedroom window last week!) so the man with the traps is coming back and forth each day. We're caught four so far (mom and three babies) and thing there are at least two more. Once they are caught, he will release them altogether somewhere. They are cute as can be, but they sure are causing some damage! I've also been busy starting to pack up the craft/crap room. We are going to put laminate down in here and get all new furniture from IKEA. I can't wait! But I don't like packing. I have waaaaaaaaaaaay too much stuff in here. I will be working on limited supplies for the next little while until the reno is complete. I should take some before photos but I'm honestly too embarassed! It's such a mess.....

Anyways, enough of my rambling! I've got a few cards for you today using new There She Goes sets. This first card is using a gorgeous new set called Bloom. I love the sentiments! And you can never have a enough flowers...

I stamped the flower image randomly in Pretty in Pink ink onto cardstock of the same colour and again on Whisper White. Memories Black ink was using for the sentiment. It's layered using dimensionals onto Basic Black cardstock and then a sheer polka May Arts ribbon tied in a bow.

These next two cards use another newly released set called Life's A Beach. How fun is this? So many great images in this set.

For both cards I used Whisper White and Baja Breeze with Tangerine Tango ribbon. The top card also has So Saffron for the umbrella, Tangering tango for the fruit and Memories black ink for the drink image outline and sentiment. For the top card I stamped the drink twice and cut out just the liquid part, coated it with Baja ink and then glittered it up with a two way glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds. A Marvy punch was used for the scalloped border. These two cards are for the CAS challenge this week which is to use glitter on your cards. Love glitter!

For the bottom card, I again used a two way glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds. I also used SU!'s Scallop border punch for the white layer.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today! Hope you have a wonderful Canada Day/plain old Wednesday (depending on where you live)!

To finish, here's a little proud Canadian action for you in honour of Canada Day :)

TSG09

Good morning!

Well, it's crunch time. Two more weeks of school. Ten days left and about 20 days of stuff to get done! I know it will all be finished, but it's feeling crazy the last few weeks.

I took some time out today to make a card for the There She Goes Challenge TSGO9. It was a sketch challenge combined with an inspiration challenge. Here's the inspiration site. You can see the details of the challenge here. Click on forum to get to the challenges part.

I decided to use this room for my inspiration. Father's Day is coming up and I have a few cards to make for that.

I combined the star from the Tweeterpated set with the Father's Day sentiment from Holidays Galore. Colours are Riding Hood Red, River Rock and Not Quite Navy. I scored the card base with my Scor Pal to get the stripes. The corners of the sentiment panel were punched with a ticket punch to give more of a "baseball" feel. I used a 1" punch for the stars (stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock). The sentiment panel and stars are both raised on dimensionals and some gold tone eyelets finish it off.

Here's another card I made for the Splitcoast colour challenge earlier this week which was to use white as a main colour.

The image from Act of Kindness was rock and rolled in More Mustard and Bravo Burgundy ink.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today! I'm off to clean my house as my mom is coming over to babysit the kids tonight while hubby and I go into the city to see Russell Peters at the Air Canada Center. Check him out on You Tube. Some seriously funny stuff IMO. Some language though, so be forewarned! I don't think we will be the only ones representing B-town tonight. Can't wait!

Hope the rest of your day is great!

Take Me Away

Good morning!

We're off to the Blue Jays game today with my nephew, BIL and FIL too. Just the men, boys and me! It's a Kids Club game to they get a bunch of free stuff for being members. DH is all over that! Plus there is an autograph session only for Kids Club members so hopefully I will have some great pics when come back.

I made a card for you today using another new These She Goes set called Rejuvenate.

The base is watercolour paper again as I am loving the texture and thickness of it! That, and it happened to still still be out on my desk from the last time I used it. :) I stamped the bubble image randomly all over a piece of Cool Caribbean cardstock tone on tone. The image and sentiment are stamped in Black Stazon and coloured in with an Aquapainter. The image is also on watercolour paper and I used Summer Sun and Pumpkin Pie for the duckie. I made a second duckie and popped him up on a dimensional. The wide oval from SU! fits this image perfectly!

So that's it stamping wise for today. I do have to add though, am I the last person to have heard of these "literal" videos people are putting up on You Tube? I think I peed a bit laughing at this last night...

Thanks soooooo much for taking the time to stop by today. Have a great day!

DDIC5

Time for another Divine Diva Inspiration Challenge! Lori picked this tank top as inspiration for today.

As I often do with an Inspiration Challenge, I started with the colour scheme. Even though this is a "sage" tank, I was feeling River Rock. The Really Rust and Pacific Point flowers are picked up from the flower colours in the tank. It's a but of an unusual colour combo, but I'm liking it!

My new sets from There She Goes arrived just in time for this challenge! I was anxious to ink them up and fortunately this set Act of Kindness was perfect! I added some little rust/copper coloured rhinestones from Kaiser Craft to the little flowers.

I'd love to see what you come up with using this tank for inspiration so be sure to link me up to your creation! Be sure to check out what the other Diva's have come up with for today's challenge.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today :)
